Here are some common student profiles. Click on the one that best describes your student to help you select the best class to sign-up for.

Consider signing your student up for this course if
  • They tend to use “mental math” rather than showing their work (their teacher may write “work?” or “Show your work” on assignments.
  • They have taken pre-algebra and earned less than a solid B.
  • They skip steps in their written solutions (they should be able to point to something on their paper for every step needed to solve).
  • They continue to use lower-level techniques to solve complex problems (e.g., “2x = 4 because 2 times 2 equals 4.”)

Consider signing your student up for this course if
  • They tend to experience testing anxiety in all classes or specifically math.
  • They earned less than a solid B in Pre-Algebra.
  • They failed Algebra 1 previously.
  • They passed Algebra 1 with a grade lower than C.
  • They passed Algebra 1 with a grade lower than B and need to refresh their skills before taking Algebra 2 (the typical progression for math classes puts geometry in between Algebra 1 and 2, which is enough time for students to forget some important skills).
